Four kinds of hardness standards are supplied through Japan Bearing Inspection Institute using hardness blocks in Japan. These hardness blocks have been established with their high stability and high reliability. Long term stability of blocks and personal measurement error are now investigated by means of quality engineering. International comparisons of hardness values are in progress among Japan, the United States, Germany and Italy. And international comparison for Rockwell hardness value is also in progress in the APEC program.
