High Precision Macro-scale Measurement


  1. Distance measurement by optical modulation
    In development of optical distance meter of high frequency modulation, high resolution has been achieved with wave-guided modulator. Modulation at GHz region and detection at higher order harmonics of the modulation brought mm resolution and reduction of cyclic error. Recently, resolution higher than 5 mm was obtained by modulation at 3.5 GHz and detection at 7 GHz.
    On the other hand, sensitive distance meter was developed to measure level of liquid surface, for petroleum tank and so on.

  2. Laser tracking
    An outdoor laser tracking system has been developed using simple reflector at objects, in order to measure 3D position of working machines under sun shine. For this 4 years, the tracking distance has reached 100 m and 3D measurement is available. Now, the 3rd version is under testing, it has control system to recover tracking even if the laser beam is cut.
