Surface roughness of mechanical finish has a great influence on surface quality or surface function, and therefore is very important as practical and functional measures in the field of mechanical manufacturing. We have a plan to developed the absolute measuring instrument of surface roughness. This instrument installs an interferometer, which can measure a height of roughness (Z axis) and a displacement of an X-Y scanning table with an accuracy of order of nanometers.
