The Traceability of National Standards for Density and Viscosity Measurements Starts Here.

The Traceability of National Standards for Density Measurement is maintained by using Hydrometers.

The Hydrometer is one of the simplest Measurement Instruments in the Operation, just reading the Vertical Position of Meniscus at Floating in the Liquid, of which Density is supposed to be measured.

The Legal Metrology classifies the Hydrometers into Either Reference or Standard Ones, whose Calibration the Section take Care of.

¨Explanation of the Hydrometers

The Traceability of the Viscosity Standards is maintained through the Standard Liquid for Calibrating Viscometers which is available for the General Versatile Viscometers. The Section is responsible for the Determination of the Viscosity of the Standard Liquid for Calibrating Viscometers by using Master Viscometers System.

The Determination of the Physical Constants of Liquids
-- Contribution to the Establishment of International System of Units

The Section has achieved the Absolute Determinations of the Density of Water, the Viscosity of Liquids and the Density of the Silicon Spheres for the Determination of the Avogadro Constant.

The Precision and High Performance Measurement of Material Properties of Liquid

The Section is engaged in the Precision Measurement of Fluid mechanical Properties and the Improvement of Measurement Technology in the following Fields for the Liquid ranging from Pure Water to Industrial Liquids in order to create the Metrological Background for Basic and Applied Science and Technology.
