Pattern Approval

Pattern approval tests are performed to verify that thestructure of the specified measuring instrumentcan be approved under the technological standards determined by Ministerial ordinance. The tests include durability and functional tests directly dependent on the pattern of theNinstrument. Instruments for which the pattern has been approved can be supplied to the general public after undergoing instrumental error and other tests which can be carried out in a much shorter period compared with tests such as the durability test; thus efficiency in official approval can be greatly increased. NRLM carried out the tests for pattern approval of taxi meters, nonautomatic weghting instruments, clinical thermometers, gas meters, water meters, sphygmomanometers, and pressure gauge.

With respect to measuring instruments with electronic circuits, test items in the test for pattern approval include various environment-related items such as anti-electro-magnetic-noise characteristics, in addithion to the items related to general performance required for measuring instruments.
