Measurment Law and NRLM

In accordance with the Measurment Law, in addition to supplying nationalN standards for several kinds of quantities, NRLM takes part in tests for pattern approval of socially important measuring instruments (referred to as specified measuring instruments in the Measurement Law), inspection of verification standards to check for instrumental error, comparison inspections, some verifiation for measuring instruments, solution of technological problems arising during enforcement of the Measurement Law, and examination of international conformity in technological standards. Among the above-mentioned activities, supply of national standards is carried out by all the relevant sections of NRLM. Other activities are carried out by the Testing and Inspection Section of NRLM, Tsukuba, and the Basic Standards Section and Industrial Standards Section of Osaka Measurement System Center.
